Meet the Team!
Made with Music was founded by Hannah Dilworth and Kathryn Sturman. We now have a board of trustees, a number of freelancers who work regularly with us and more recently an Admin Assistant.

KATHRYN STURMAN & HANNAH DILWORTH
Founders / Directors / Musicians
Kathryn (left) and Hannah (right) met whilst working for a big arts organisation in Leeds and have been working in arts education as workshop leaders and project managers for over 20 years.

SARAH PERRY
Board Member
Sarah became passionate about Made with Music as a service user at The Mount, where she received care under the Leeds Perinatal Mental Health Team, attending - as part of that care - the music classes run by Kathryn and Hannah. As a disabled parent who uses a wheelchair, Sarah is often sad at how many opportunities to play, learn, and be are inaccessible to disabled children, and children who live with disabled grown ups. She wanted to be a trustee for Made With Music to support their wonderful work making music and fun accessible to everyone. Whilst not an instrumentalist or musician, Sarah is a big karaoke enthusiast, and a believer in music as a source of joy. She has had many different jobs, but currently writes fiction, teaches creative writing as a lecturer at Leeds University, and runs workshops using creative writing as a therapeutic tool.

SATNAM GALSIAN
Board Member
Satnam is the Youth Progression Coordinator for Music Local/Launchpad. Her role includes delivering talks about careers in the music industry for young people in education and community settings and creating performance opportunities for under 25’s. For the rest of the time, Satnam is a progressive folk singer-songwriter exploring transcultural musical aesthetics. Satnam was awarded the EFDSS Alan James Creative Bursary 2023 in collaboration with fellow Leeds artist Maddie Morris to research and explore gender-based violence in Punjabi and English Folk songs. She was a recipient of the Opera North Resonance Residency 2024 for a project challenging pre-conceived notions about women’s roles in Punjabi folklore through a feminist retelling of Mirza-Sahiban, a tragic love story from the Indian subcontinent. Sahiban was self-released last year as was her debut solo folk EP, Fragmented Truth. She currently performs as a solo artist, with her band Kinaara and delivers music and mental health workshops in schools and community venues.

LAURA STUBBS
Board Member
Laura is a communications specialist with a background in marketing and PR. Music and singing was a key part of her formative years, helping her to develop confidence and giving her the opportunity to sing and Samba all over Europe in her teens. Laura runs a social media agency in Leeds helping small businesses and charities get their message out to a wider audience online. As a parent, Laura knows first-hand the challenges of being able to attend live arts and cultural events with an autistic child. She is really looking forward to helping Made with Music grow their mission to bring the transformative joy of music to even more families.

CHARLIE GOWER-SMITH

Charlie is Musical Director of Jervaulx Singers and the Chapter House Youth Choir in York. He studied music at the University of Leeds where he began singing and conducting in earnest. Since then he has been in demand as a conductor for his inclusive, informative and encouraging style.
Charlie has been involved with many organisations to facilitate singing in the workplace, including John Lewis, Addleshaw Goddard, Stewarts Law, Leeds City Council, Macmillan Cancer Support and TransPennine Express, a Hallé Corporate Choir. He has delivered Early Years music sessions for Grassington Festival and Harrogate International Festivals (Musical Mums).
When not making music, Charlie is usually cooking something in the kitchen.

MILES JEFFORD
Board Member
Miles is a Chartered Accountant working in the NHS. As a young child he had significant hearing loss and found engaging with music helped build his confidence through expression as he could feel the music. His journey with music has led him to try many instruments, however the one that stuck is his guitar. In addition to this, his wife is a Primary School Teacher who uses music and sounds as part of her curriculum as a universal language.
In his free time, he enjoys walking the dog, listening to music and enjoying the throws of being a father. Miles is incredibly excited to be a part of Made with Music and all of the joy that it brings to so many families around Yorkshire.
