Mini-Gig Programme

Brudenell Social Club

19/04/26

Welcome to our Made with Music mini-gig! We’re so pleased you could join us today for three different acts - you can find more information about them below. Don’t forget to ask the musicians any questions you have after their set. Made with Music is an award winning charity and believe that everyone should have access to live music. We run these mini-gigs regularly at the Brudenell Social Club as well as other events for families to enjoy together. We try to make everything we do accessible and inclusive for everyone so please let us know if we can do anything to make today easier for you. Have fun!

CARPET

Carpet is the moniker of Leeds-based musician and recording-engineer, Rob Slater. After the dissolvement of his previous band, indie rock veterans, The Spills, Carpet is the product of Slater returning to the freedom, mystery and magic that first attracted him to recording on a 4-track cassette recorder as a teen. Crafted in his own Greenmount Studios largely in solitude, bar some appearances from close friends, Carpet brings the spirit of bedroom recording into the studio, along with the initial excitement of the home demo.

A linchpin of the city’s DIY scene, Slater has played in numerous bands including Thank, Mi Mye, Post War Glamour Girls and Crake, with whom he raises a son. Through his work as a recording-engineer/producer, he has made and performed on countless records, with credits including Yard Act, Thank, Holly Humberstone, English Teacher, Green Gardens, Westside Cowboy and Fuzz Lightyear to name a few. Between this work, Slater has self-produced and released three EPs of his own music - the debut 5 track 'Carpet'; 2022's follow-up 'Maldon Salt/Men Like Us'; and most recently, last year’s ‘Fruit’ EP. BEST NEW MUSIC - The Times "Well-executed indie-rock" EP OF THE YEAR - For The Rabbits "Carpet continues to showcase Rob's ability as a songwriter of great subtlety”

MOLLIE CODDLED

Mollie Coddled is Yorkshire’s reigning Indie Pop queen, crafting dreamy, tongue-in-cheek anthems rooted in the Neurodivergent experience. Blending lush Dreampop textures with playful, confessional lyricism, her sound recalls the wit of Lily Allen wrapped in a hazy, Bedroom Pop-esque aesthetic.

Mollie’s last EP ‘i wanna go home’ saw her championed by BBC Introducing, (including track of the week from Emily Pilbeam), Amazing Radio A-List, DORK's HYPE list 2023, Coverage from The Line Of Best Fit, PRS for Music and Playlist support from NME, DIY & DORK. With over 700k Spotify streams, previous editorial support includes New Music Friday, Our Generation, Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds Indie, Indie Shuffle, Lofi-Indie, Equal UK & Ireland and more.

Growing up out in the sticks of a North Yorkshire farm, Mollie struggled a lot growing up with feeling unconventionally different, she says “As someone living with Autism and ADHD, providing a place for people to feel seen and validated is the goal of my songwriting” mentioning the lack of relatable music in the mainstream, growing up and her hopes to be that space for someone with her music.

MAGICK MOUNTAIN

With tales of infinite space, otherworldly escapes, hazy dreams and Weird Feelings that weave together the supernatural and the visceral; Magick Mountain are a power trio with colossal riffs,
entwining harmonies and fstfuls of wild, distorted energy. They are quickly carving out a place for themselves at the vanguard of an exciting new movement of high octane garage-rock bands, releasing four singles throughout 2020, followed by their debut album, Weird Feelings.

Magick Mountain is what happens when the planets align and sees seasoned musician Lins Wilson assume her rightful place; leading this fuzzed out, psychedelic, proto-punk power trio, flame red hair flowing and guitar wailing. Having written and performed with many legendary Leeds bands (including Grammatics & Mother Vulpine), Lins is now flanked by like minded northern noiseniks Tom Hudson (Pulled Apart By Horses)
and Nestor Matthews (Sky Larkin, Menace Beach).

Magick Mountain have already graced Radio 1, BBC6 Music, BBC IntroducingWY, Latitude Festival and Live at Leeds with their presence, were featured on CMJ's Music Marathon and have
shared stages across the UK with the likes of The Cribs, Meatbodies, Stonefeld, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, levitation room, Wand, Cherry Glazerr, Los Bitchos, Dream Wife, Thee MVPs, YOWL and more.
